Expedient Cleveland Data Center

Expedient leases server space and required 243 server racks. To accomplish this LLI Engineering designed a 7,200 sq. ft. data center with NOC and UPS support space. The data center area included a 24" raised floor to route power and provided the required air conditioning.

Power for the data center required two separate 3000 amp utility company power feeds to two separate switchgears (A & B). The commercial power is backed up by two 750 kw standby generators. There are four UPS systems (two for the A buss and two for the B buss) which feed a total of sixteen power distribution units (PDU's).

To cool the data center a total of 8 computer room air conditioning units (CRAC) were installed around the perimeter of the room. Each CRAC is a nominal 30-ton unit and distributed conditioned air below the raised floor. The units are set up in an N & 1 configuration where 7 operate and 1 is standby. The UPS battery room is cooled by three CRAC units in an N & 1 configuration. These units are connected by common supply air ductwork and isolation dampers.

The entire facility is protected by a fire protection system above and below raised floor consisting of piping discharge nozzles and FE-25 cylinders.
